No Relays, But Race As A Team

We are adding an additional team concept to the 2011 TriTonka Triathlon.  In the past, we have experienced great success with standard team scoring for those who wanted to participant and enhance their competitive experience, so this year we will unveil a family team concept.   While we will continue to have team scoring in our adult and youth races, family teams will be allowed to compete across the adult and youth races.  This means a team comprised of parents and their children can race in their respective races and any places will contribute toward a cumulative team score.  Not to be confused with a relay, every member of every team will do the entire event and score points for placing as such:
First = 10 points
Second = 8 points
Third = 6 points
Fourth = 4 points
Fifth = 2 points
Sixth = 1 point
First tie breaker is highest average score, i.e. Total Team Points / Total Team Members.
Second tie breaker is lowest average team race time, i.e. Total Team Time / Total Team Members.
If not enough teams scores points to fill out first, second and third, the tie breaking methods will be used to determine those place winners.
Of course, racing solo is still our mainstay!
